And another one

I started this a while ago. Worked on it for a few hours. Had a bunch of ideas that I wanted to incorporate into it....but then I got frustrated. I didn't touch it for months.

The other day I found it again and covered the canvas with gesso. I need to be more patient.

Maybe I should go into the Piñata making business?

From A Picture...Whiskey Friends Edition

(click on the picture to make it bigger)

I wanted to do another drawing made up from scribbles. I liked how my first pen/scribble drawing came out, so I wanted to do another one. I really like drawing with pens. Everything is final, obviously...you can't erase pen. So whenever I would mess up on something, I had to get creative to fix it.

An Abstract Update

Me and Daniel worked more on our paintings. His is coming out pretty cool. Mine is starting to frustrate me a little. They both still need a few more hours of work, so we'll get there.

Space delights...or something like that.

I'm starting a new painting. It's for a friend. If I tell you I'll paint you a painting, it will probably take me forever to do it, but I'll always remember. She liked some other paintings I did for some friends, so she wanted something similar. I asked her what she liked, and she said cupcakes and space....so how could I say no? These are some REALLY rough sketches...but you kinda get the idea.

UPDATE

Now What?

I really like to draw, but I don't do it enough. I don't think I am as confident with drawing as I am with painting. I need to find something I really want to draw so I can be committed I guess. We'll see how it goes...

Flat Science Overload!

This painting also lives in San Francisco with another really nice girl. This one took me a while, but I liked how it turned out.

Before and After

Sometimes I look at a painting or drawing when it's finished, and just don't feel it. When that happens I have to make some changes. Sometimes is works out, and other times it does not. I liked how this one turned out though.

The face, hands, jeans, guitar, and the cloudy sky were all done with color pencil. The rest was painted with acrylic paint on a thick 18x24 sheet of thick watercolor paper.

High School Dayz

The other day I gave my younger brother a ride to his high school orientation. I hadn't been back to that school at some time, even though I pass by there a few times a week. It feels like it's been more than five years since I've graduated. I started to reminisce all the good times I had. Made me miss high school at little. I met a lot of cool people, as well as a few not so cool ones. All the art classes I took are definitely the classes I benefited from most. Right?

Buttons

I helped out Daniel paint over some buttons he bought from a thrift store. We're paintings his band's name on them. He's going to try and sell them at one of his shows. They came out pretty cool. His band is called SteepRoof, Check them out.

These are some of the ones I painted. Whatd ya think?

Me and Dan talked about possibly starting something up. Maybe other bands might like them and hire us to make buttons? Or maybe not.

I don't know. Either way, they were fun to do. It's always nice to keep ones creativity going.

Also, does anyone wanna go to Steeprooftoberfest?

Flat Romanticism....Kinda

A very nice girl in San Francisco owns this now.

I'll try anything once.

I want to try doing more stencils. I sprayed this one on a record. It's not great, but I didn't spend too much time on it. I really want to try doing a multi-layered stencil. Yeah.

My City

For the last few weeks I've been working on this new drawing. I don't work on it regularly. Whenever I'm bored, or have nothing else to do, I bring it out and start to draw. I'm using pen. I'm drawing on a 18x24 sheet of britol paper.

I'm not sure where it's going. I have some ideas, but not sure about them just yet. I don't want to think too much with this drawing. I do that a lot. I over think and over plan most things in my life.

There's a lot going on, but it's kinda like how I feel my brain works sometimes. I have a lot of clouded thoughts. It makes it hard to focus. The constant counting doesn't help too much either. I want to start working on it regularly. There is someone I want to give it to.

This Is Meaningless But It's How The Cool Kids Do It

It started out as a present for a friend's birthday. I didn't know what to paint, which happens more often than not. After a while I just started to splash paint onto the canvas. I started to paint random objects and worked out a composition. I started to think about people who paint random things together without any thought or without it meaning anything. The only real reason they do it is because they think it looks cool. This became more of a satire, and the accidental start of the endless series.

Jackson and Pollock

Yesterday me and Daniel decided to paint some abstract paintings. We used the canvases we built. When I was painting I realized I don't really paint a lot of abstract paintings. After about ten minutes I realized it was because doesn't interest me as much. So far they both look pretty good. They both also need a lot of more work though. I'll update after we work on them more or finish them.

Impressions

I painted this on a pretty big wooden canvas I built. I did it with a palette knife, which I liked using. It's a nice break from brushes. They are also easier to clean too. What I don't like is how much paint I had to use/waste. It's hard to see the detail I did with the palette knives in a picture. It's better to view it in person.

This is my second attempt at becoming an impressionist...well not really. It's just my second painting in the genre. The first one I did I'm too embarrassed to post or show people.
